About Our Lab
The Loveless Lab, led by Dr. Theresa Loveless in the Department of BioSciences at Rice University, develops molecular recording tools that let cells encode the history of their own signaling and gene-expression events into their DNA. Using DNA recording systems such as peCHYRON, our flagship technology, we can reconstruct the sequence of events a cell has experienced, helping to distinguish the molecular events that drive cell-fate decisions from those merely associated with them. Our research spans synthetic biology, developmental biology, and cell engineering, with applications from mapping fate decisions in development to understanding diseases such as cancer.
